Classico Bahia
Salvador de Bahia, Brazil 2023
It’s always a pleasure to be able to return year after year to Bahia and meet the families I’ve known for a long time, photograph them and we also help them materially to thank them for their hospitality and warm welcome. Carine, Geralyn, Rose and Romaine joined me and took their photos each day. The beautiful thing that always surprises me is how we manage to respect each photographer’s space without interfering or getting into the situations that others are photographing. Sometimes, even if two or three of us shoot the same scene, I know the photos will be totally different from each other. There are also other situations where everyone finds their own space and there are no problems. We do the editing every morning after breakfast and if there’s still time I share some of my Latin American cantos, sometimes getting interesting comments and suggestions. For years, with this choral edition, I have been assembling and sequencing my future projects. The group is very close-knit and dinners are always the best way to get together and tell each other how we spent our days. The days go by and as always the end of the workshop arrives. We do the final cut of Carine, G and Rose. Each one has taken personal and excellent quality photos. For Romaine, who shoots with color negatives, we will have to wait months to see his photos. In this way we conclude this beautiful and intense workshop that we decided to call Classico Bahia. EB
